Now Offering 3D Printing Services!
As part of our strong ethos in the ‘right to repair’, we have added not one, but TWO 3D Printers to our ranks!
- Bambu Lab X1C (Multi-filament printing in various colours)
- AnyCubic Kobra2 Max
Between these two machines we are able to print with:
PLA Plastic - PLA is a great base-level filament. Great for prototyping to ensure size and fit, it does soften in direct sunlight and but it's cheap, cheerful and reasonably strong.
ABS Plastic - This is the same plastic that Lego blocks are made from. This is great for indoor use as handles, levers, jigs and other functional parts.
ASA Plastic - Very similar to ABS plastic, but significantly more UV stable and better suited to harsher conditions.
TPU Plastic - A soft and squishy plastic, perfect for use as a gasket, or where flexibility is needed. We've made parts for The Outdoor Fun Shop's Dragonette's out of a variety of various colours of TPU. It also generally exhibits good chemical resistance, particularly to oils, greases, and solvents and we've used it to make dust caps to cover hydraulic valves on excavators and diggers.
Nylon 12 - Nylon PA12 is a popular engineering-grade polyamide often chosen for it's outstanding mechanical thermal properties and low moisture sensitivity. It's strong, has some lubricity built in, and performs really well under stress. It is ideal for producing high-performance prototypes, drone components, and end-use parts that demand enhanced strength, stiffness, and lightweight properties.
Carbon Fiber Reinforced Nylon - This is an engineering composite material suitable for high strength, high abrasion and heat resistant applications. The toughness of nylon PA12 is combined with 20% chopped nylon to add stiffness. It is ideally suited to applications that require higher strength and rigidity. The material demonstrates high strength, high abrasion resistance and high-temperature resistance (durable performance in up to 150 degrees Celsius). The carbon fiber reinforcement not only increases the toughness of the material but also limits shrinkage.
Unsure where to start?
Hit us up here and we’ll get you going! We can assist with the design phase to make sure an item suits the purpose, recommend the appropriate material, and create the technical drawings required to start printing!
3D printing new components to replace ones which are no longer available, saving the client from having to replace a whole system for the sake of some small hose clips!
